
In this post, I’ll show you how to use this amazing app. This app is packed with lot of features, so I’ll explain all of them one by one. Well how to use titanium backup?
Before we begin, we need you to understand few important things about this app. This app is designed to save all your important data. It not only stores app data but also system data. You might be wondering that what is system data and what is its advantage. You all are aware of the fact that how we all decorate our home screens, set favorite wallpapers, set lovely notification sounds, alarms and much more. You must have understood my point. Every time we change a phone or sometimes install a new firmware, we lose all our saved settings. There was no other way to save those settings until i started using Titanium Backup. Now I’ll explain everything about Titanium Backup you need to know.
How to Make Backup with Titanium Backup:
Making Backup with Titanium Backup is very easy and there are many methods to do it.
Total Backup:
With this option you can backup all apps and system data with just one simple click.
- Enable USB Debugging by navigating to Settings>Developer Options and tick Developer Options
- Open Titanium Backup app from app drawer in your device
- Click on the button in top right corner
- It will give a list of options
- Select Backup all user apps + System data
- Tap on green tick icon
- You may deselect some apps you do not wish to restore
- It will automatically make a backup of all your data
- Progress can be seen in notification window
- You can minimize the app and use it normally
- If your phone’s RAM is below 1 GB, then it is recommended that you should not use your phone while Titanium Backup is working
- You do not need to worry if your phone turns off during process
- You can resume backup anytime
- If half of the apps were already backed up, Titanium Backup will detect them and make backup of remaining apps
Backup User Apps:
If you only want to backup user apps – the apps you have installed, you can use this option. This option is particularly useful for those who do not modify phone’s settings much.
- Enable USB Debugging by navigating to Settings>Developer Options and tick Developer Options
- Follow all the steps mention below
- Only select Backup all User Apps instead of Backup all user apps + System data in step 4
Those who who like to install fresh apps every time can only backup system data.
- Enable USB Debugging by navigating to Settings>Developer Options and tick Developer Options
- Follow all the steps given above
- Just select Backup all System Data instead of Backup all user apps + System data in step 4
If you have recently installed an app and want to make a backup of it instantly, you can use this option.
- Enable USB Debugging by navigating to Settings>Developer Options and tick Developer Options
- In main menu of titanium backup, click on “Backup and Restore”
- It will show you a list of all system and user apps
- Select the app you want to backup
- Then a popup will show
- Select Backup option
- Progress will be shown in notification window
With this option you can automatically backup new apps or newer versions of these apps.
- Enable USB Debugging by navigating to Settings>Developer Options and tick Developer Options
- Open Titanium Backup
- Select icon in top right corner
- Select Backup new use apps + newer version + new system data
- Progress will be seen in notification window
Just like backing up, lot of options are available to restore data.
Restore Total Data:
With this option, you can restore all apps and system data in one easy step. Note that apps backup will work in every phone but system data is specific to phones or brands. For example i was able to restore my home screen from Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro to Sony Xperia Sola. This is because they both share same manufacturer. However, restoring system data between different phones is not recommended by me.
- Enable USB Debugging by navigating to Settings>Developer Options and tick Developer Options
- Open Titanium Backup app from app drawer
- In the top right corner, tap the button with a tick
- Locate Restore tab and options listed underneath it
- Select Restore all user apps + System data
- When it comes to system data restoring, it will give you some options
- If you are restoring in same phone with same firmware, restore all of system data called snapshot of it
- If you are using another similar firmware/ROM, restore from XML which is much safer
- Another option is available called “Let me choose myself”
- With this option you can select the apps you want to restore
- Progress will be shown in notification window
- As i said earlier, you may minimize the app and use the phone
- Do this only if RAM is at least 1 GB
- If the restoring process is stuck, close the app or restart device and start again
- You need not to worry about if it will restore any app again, as Titanium Backup intelligently detects app which are already restored and which haven’t been restored yet
- As soon as all system data will be restored. it will ask you to reboot your phone – This step is very important
- You must reboot your smartphone after full restore
Restore User Apps:
Restore the user apps only with this option. This option is particularly useful when installing apps on new phone or in a different ROM.
- Enable USB Debugging by navigating to Settings>Developer Options and tick Developer Options
- Open Titanium Backup
- Click on Tick icon on top right corner
- Locate Restore tab in list
- Select Restore all missing apps with data
- Then tap green tick icon
- You can also deselect some apps which you do not want to restore
- Progress will be visible in notification window
- Enable USB Debugging by navigating to Settings>Developer Options and tick Developer Options
- Open Titanium Backup
- Click on Tick icon on top right corner
- Locate Restore tab in list
- Select Restore all system data
- Then tap green tick icon
- You can also deselect some apps which you do not want to restore
- Progress will be visible in notification window
- Enable USB Debugging by navigating to Settings>Developer Options and tick Developer Options
- Go to Backup & Restore tab in main menu of Titanium Backup
- Select the app you wish to restore
- The apps which are not yet installed will be lined in middle
- Select the app
- It will give you some options like restore app + data, restore app only or restore data is app is already installed
- Select any option suitable for you
- Soon app will be restored
- If it is a system app, you will have to reboot after restore is complete
